If you're moving your PRactical data to a new account — or restoring from a previous export — you can re-import a PRactical CSV file through the web importer. This is also useful if you want to consolidate workout history across two accounts.
Export your data from the original account
In the PRactical mobile app, go to the Settings tab and scroll to the Data section. Tap 'Export Data' (requires a Premium subscription). The app generates a CSV file and prompts you to share or save it. Save it to your Files app or email it to yourself so you can access it on a computer. If export is not yet available in the app, contact support and we'll provide the export manually.
Sign in to your destination account
On your computer, go to practicalworkouts.com/import and sign in with the email and password of the account you want to import the workouts into. This should be a different account from the one you exported from, or a freshly created one.
Upload the PRactical CSV file
On the upload screen, drag the PRactical .csv file into the drop zone or click 'click to browse' and select it from your files. PRactical recognises its own export format and maps everything across precisely — exercises, sets, weights, reps, and dates. Click 'Import Workouts' to begin.
Verify the import in the app
Open PRactical on your phone while signed in to the destination account. Refresh the History tab to see the imported workouts. PRs will be recalculated automatically based on all your imported data.
If you have workouts on two separate PRactical accounts and want to merge them, export from the older account and import into the newer one. If both accounts have overlapping dates, PRactical's deduplication logic will skip exact duplicates so you won't end up with doubled workouts.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import a PRactical export back into the same account?
You can, but it's rarely necessary. PRactical's deduplication logic will skip workouts that already exist in the account, so no data will be duplicated.
Is a Premium subscription required to import?
No. Importing is free for all PRactical users. A Premium subscription is only required to export your data from the mobile app.
What format is the PRactical export in?
PRactical exports workout history as a CSV file. Each row represents a set, with columns for date, exercise name, weight, reps, and other metadata.
